WARREN, OHIO—JUNE 11, 2025—The Raymond John Wean Foundation unveiled Wednesday a large-scale mural inside its office at 147 West Market Street in downtown Warren, commemorating 75 years of service to the Mahoning Valley.
Developed by North Ridgeville-based artist Camara Goodrich, with the support of a team of local students and artists, the mural depicts the evolution of the Wean Foundation, highlighting historical milestones while emphasizing its current focus and where it’s headed. Across six canvas panels measuring a total of 48 feet wide by 7 feet high, the mural shows the Wean Foundation’s outgrowth from the steel industry, its transition from a small family foundation to a private community-based foundation and its vision for the future.
“This mural is a beautiful representation of not only the Wean Foundation’s commitment to the Mahoning Valley but of the community’s vibrancy and the resilience of its residents,” said Wean Foundation President Jennifer Roller.
“It’s a joy to see the full scope of the Wean Foundation’s impact so expertly rendered by Mrs. Goodrich,” added Chairman Gordon B. Wean. “The mural is a fantastic culmination of our 75th anniversary and an important reminder to stay the course because, given the ambitious nature of our work, our goals will always seem to be just out of reach.”
The idea for the mural developed during the Wean Foundation’s 75th year in 2024. Following a request for proposals, the Wean Foundation gathered a small advisory committee comprised of staff, board and community members to select an artist. Mrs. Goodrich was chosen for her artistic style and vision and alignment with Wean Foundation values.
Advisory committee members included Mr. Wean; Ms. Roller; Sara Daugherty, Reinvestment Director at Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.; Leigh Greene, Director of Community Health at Mercy Health; Jessica King, Program Coordinator at Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership; Sara McCarthy, Communications Consultant for the Wean Foundation; William Mullane, Gallery Director of the Trumbull Art Gallery; Fallon Peterson, Senior Director of Programs and Operations at the Wean Foundation; and Meghan Reed, Director of the Trumbull County Historical Society.
The mural was unveiled Wednesday during Breakfast@Wean, a community breakfast event that brought together more than 75 nonprofit, civic and government leaders. The Wean Foundation invites community members to view the mural through a number of upcoming opportunities, including “Summer Fridays,” starting June 13 and running through August 29, from noon to 1 p.m. Community members are encouraged to bring their lunch and relax in the Wean Foundation vestibule. Additional opportunities to engage with the mural will be announced throughout the year.
