The Raymond John Wean Foundation Board of Directors Approves More Than $400,000 in Grants

WARREN, OHIO—JUNE 26, 2025—The Raymond John Wean Foundation’s board of directors earlier this month approved $431,000 of grants to support community revitalization, economic opportunity and public and civic sector leadership.

The grants were awarded to:

  • Economic Action Group (EAG) to support its State and Federal Resource Engagement and Compliance Initiative (SFREC), a six-month pilot to ensure nonprofits, particularly those that serve vulnerable communities, weather federal funding uncertainties and policy changes. Through this initiative, nonprofits will receive specialized expertise to effectively navigate these challenges and be responsive to the community.
  • Greater Ohio Policy Center for general operating support over two years. In particular, the resources will support the nonprofit research organization’s Reinvention Cities Network (RCN), which supports leaders in Ohio’s small legacy cities in building capacity through peer-learning and information-sharing.
  • Ohio CDC Association for general operating support over one year. Ohio CDC Association is a statewide membership organization representing more than 250 Ohio-based nonprofits focused on revitalizing neighborhoods. The organization supports its members through capacity-building programs and advocacy and plans to expand its engagement in the Mahoning Valley.
  • Policy Matters Ohio for general operating support over two years. Policy Matters is a nonpartisan organization that champions a fair economy, a high quality of life, sustainable communities, and opportunities for all Ohioans through research, coalition building, strategic communication and policy advocacy. Policy Matters co-hosts events in and provides data on important issues in the Mahoning Valley.
  • Ohio Transformation Fund for general operating support over two years. Ohio Transformation Fund is a statewide organization that uses grantmaking and other supports to transform Ohio’s criminal legal system from one that over-criminalizes and over-incarcerates individuals, especially youth and people of color, to one that promotes healthy and safe communities.

“These organizations provide vital support to the Mahoning Valley nonprofit ecosystem and advance issues we care about—stronger neighborhoods, racial equity and enhanced capacity and leadership,” said Wean Foundation President Jennifer Roller. “We’re grateful for their contributions to building a more equitable Mahoning Valley.”
